This is a one-pan Moroccan fish that delivers rich, bold taste with very little effort.
Ingredients (serves 4–6)
• 4 to 6 fish fillets
• 2 tablespoons Savta’s Moroccan Fish Blend
• 1 to 2 pints cherry tomatoes
• 6 to 8 garlic cloves
• 1 can garbanzo beans, drained
• 1 bunch cilantro, chopped
• Juice of ½ lemon
• 1 to 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
• Salt to taste
• Water, as needed
Preparation
-
Marinate the fish
Rub the fish fillets with vegetable oil and Savta’s Moroccan Fish Blend.
Let marinate overnight if possible, or at least 2 to 3 hours. -
Build the base
In a large, wide pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat.
Add the garlic cloves and cherry tomatoes. Cover and let them cook for 2 to 3 minutes until they begin to soften. -
Add the beans
Add the garbanzo beans and mix gently. -
Add the fish
Create space in the pan and place each fish fillet so it touches the bottom of the pan.
Pour in any remaining marinade and season lightly with salt. -
Add liquid and herbs
Add enough water to come about halfway up the fish.
Sprinkle in half of the chopped cilantro. -
Cook
Cover and cook on medium heat for 20 to 30 minutes, until the fish is cooked through and the sauce has deepened in flavor. -
Finish
Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top and add the remaining cilantro.
Serving Suggestions
Serve hot with warm challah to soak up the sauce. Expect the pot to be cleaned quickly.
